December 23 2016 – A ‘quick’ update today – the Packaging of the bikes in Taiwan was ‘wrong’ and they all had to be unboxed and then reboxed correctly.
“”Nothing worth having comes easy” — Theodore Roosevelt.
Let’s have a quick update today.
EU Shipping
The assembly of all bikes is already “complete”. However, we have a new issue when we’re doing the quality check these days. The factory didn’t strictly follow our internal packaging process, which we could only check on site.
The solution is now we’re unboxing all the bikes and fixing the packaging issue. Yes, all of them, and it’s very time-consuming. Since we already dispatched a team to the Taiwan factory, we are going to help them and fix this ASAP.
The shipping would start next Tuesday, and we expect to ship out approximately 150 bikes by end of next week, and most of them will be Leopard Pro. We expect to start the rest of the shipping in mid Jan 2017.
US Shipping
The 3rd batch: all KS orders left will be shipped out next week.
RoW Shipping
We shipped out 60 bikes this week, and the progress is the same as we expected.
January 2 2017 – The first update of 2017 – a number of bikes have been shipped, however, EU shipping is delayed for another 10 days.
““Often it isn’t the mountains ahead that wear you out, it’s the little pebble in your shoe.” — Muhammad Ali
Happy new year, and another update comes.
US Shipping
The 3rd batch is shipped out last Wednesday! It includes 86 bikes in total. 80 are KS orders (25% Leopard / 75% Leopard Pro), and 6 are website orders of Mustang.
Unfortunately, we have 10 KS US bikes left, because they didn’t pass the quality check (uneven paint coverage). We will send emails to inform those 10 backers as well.
The 2nd batch already arrived in LA last week, however the Christmas and new year holiday make the handling at distribution center slower. All bikes should be delivered soon, and hopefully you would receive the track codes by end of next week.
RoW Shipping
Only 20 left to be shipped, mainly because of new year holiday. and we will ship them out by Jan 10th.
EU Shipping
The 1st batch shipping gets delayed for 10 days. In the last update, we expected to ship out at least 150 bikes by end of last week. Now we expect to complete this by mid next week.
In terms of the internal packaging issue, most of the fixing work is done for Leopard Pro, and we will ship more Leopard Pro first. After that, we continue the shipping of the ones left from mid-Jan, mainly about Leopard.”
And even I got a mention:
“Paul Win
We had a bet with Paul (our community Admin at SpeedX Riders Facebook Group) before about if SpeedX could deliver bikes to EU by end of 2016. If SpeedX doesn’t make it, SpeedX would donate 1000 RMB to a charity.
If SpeedX does, Paul will donate. Obviously, we lose. The original bet is 1000 RMB donation to a charity, which is equal to around £117 GBP. Now we decide to donate £300 GBP, and we will donate in the name of SpeedX Riders.
Paul will decide which charity to donate. If you have any idea which charity we should donate, please contact Paul or post in the Facebook group.”
I mention this ‘Bet’ in the Facebook SpeedX Riders Group, and a small number of members contributed to the ‘pot’.
I was then able to donate £500 to Cyclists Fighting Cancer – a UK Charity that donates Bikes to youngsters who have been diagnosed with Cancer. More details <HERE>
January 12 2017 – 6 months after the Bikes were due to be delivered – Shipping to Europe starts:
““In the time of darkest defeat, victory may be nearest.” — William McKinley
Europe Shipping
Finally, we started EU shipping last week, as you could see Matthew Hanson already got it and posts it in the Facebook Group.
Due to the shortage of hands, it’s possible that you receive bike without receiving a tracking code, just like how Matthew experienced.
The majority of EU shipping will start this Sunday, and we expect to ship out all Leopard Pro next week.
Hopefully many of you will receive the bike at next weekend, and all of EU Leopard Pro backers could receive bikes by Jan 25th.
US Shipping
The 2nd US batch of bikes got delayed a bit. This time we got thoroughly checked at the customs and they asked for our battery/ANT+ and other certificates.
These were in Chinese so we had to get an official translation and a stamp from our government.
A few days ago we gave them all the necessary certificates. Now it’s done and we’re waiting for the green light. This should happen this week or early next week.
For 3rd US batch, it should arrive in LA port on 20th, and get shipped out around 25th.
Thanks to the lesson-learned from 2nd batch, we expect the 3rd US batch will have a smoother handling at LA port.
RoW/CA Shipping
We sent out handful of bikes last week, as you could see some backers in countries like CA received bikes these days.
As opposed to our previous update we couldn’t reach 20 bikes due to a shortage of stem cap buttons. The bikes are all put together except for that. The remaining bikes will be sent out next week.”
